Ramone Kok was a former Field Engineer by training, having been posted in hostile and remote locations such as Turkmenistan and the Middle East.

The mental fortitude forged, combined with his analytical skills from being a former bronze medallist in the National Varsity Chess Championships, helped pave a career into finance.

He sought the education and tutelage of Conrad under the Pattern Trader umbrella. Ramone studied intensively under Conrad’s mentorship and guidance and intimated himself in Macroeconomics, Defensive Psychology and Risk Management.

He then took up short stint roles as a Proprietary and Commodity Trader, before taking up a portfolio consultancy, investment advisory and wealth management role with a top 5 US-based financial services company.

Ramone is currently pursuing his Chartered Financial Analyst® (CFA) credential while juggling a day job and trading the U.S markets on the side.

His style of trading epitomizes a blend of controlled aggression and defensive trade management in maximizing returns per unit of risk.

He specializes in cross asset trading and hedging utilizing inter-market relationships and correlations via indices, bond, currency, commodity and volatility ETF’s.

During his free time, he enjoys the company of his four-legged Corgi companion. Just like a glass of whiskey that can be enjoyed anywhere anytime, give Ramone a laptop and an internet line and he will gladly conduct market research and discover macro patterns without a flinch while expanding his finance, economics and trading reading list.

Ramone is FinancialScents’ resident author of the Monthly Economic Analysis – Global Macro Report.
