Ever so often, I get asked how I found the motivation to fight my way out of rock bottom. Then how I find the motivation to keep going further when others would be satisfied to be where I am.
When you’re working to achieve something for someone other than yourself, failure is not an option especially when you’re doing it for the ones you love the most.
As a father, I would put my life on the line for my kids. And it was this motivation, my “Why”, that motivated me out of trouble a decade ago. I worked to become an exemplary father for them, one that they would idolise and model. I didn’t want them to model or idolise some pop star or actor. I wanted give them an idol that lived right in their home that they could talk to anytime to get advice or comfort from.
Little did I know then that it would lead to bigger things in the future, things that would further shape who I would become for reasons I never foresaw.
My life has been an amazing turn-around since I started putting others before myself. The power of Giving without expectations cannot be overstated just as the benefits of have a satisfied heart cannot be quantified by monetary value.
Nothing gratifies me more than knowing that I have changed someone’s life for the better. It turns me on to know that I had a positive effect on someone’s life even without having met them. This only spurs me on to do more. And more.
Your Weekend Motivational Message is to find your “Why”. Make it bigger than yourself. Do it for the ones you love the most. Hide nothing from them.
If you ever fought the good fight to exceed yourself, to outperform yourself and to make yourself the better person you know you can be, then this will be the ultimate motivational force that will drive you to the next level.
